Tri Kappa scholarships offered
The Zionsville Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa will award three $800 scholarships this spring. Two are for Zionsville Community High School seniors; the third will be given to a student entering his or her sophomore year of college. Selection of recipients is based on academic achievement, strong goals for the future, extracurricular activities, work experience and volunteer service. Applications must be in by Monday, April 6. Zionsville schools schedule Kindergarten enrollment “round-ups”
All Zionsville elementary schools will have their annual Kindergarten “round-ups” to register children for fall 2009 Kindergarten classes. Children must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2009 to attend Kindergarten. Students turning 5 during the month of August will be given an automatic waiver. Following is the registration schedule:
• Eagle Elementary School, 350 N. Sixth St., 873-1234: 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9. No appointment necessary.
• Pleasant View Elementary School, 4700 S. 975 East, 873-2376: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Call for appointment.
• Stonegate Elementary School, 7312 W. Stonegate Drive, 873-8050: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16. Call for appointment.
• Union Elementary School, 11750 E. 300 South, 733-4007: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. Call for appointment.
Bring your children to the round-up. In addition, bring proof of residency (utility bill, purchase agreement, any document showing name and address); original birth certificate; immunization records; picture of child that the school can keep.
If you are not sure which school your child will attend, check attendance boundaries on the district Web site (www.zcs.k12.in.us), call ZCS Transportation at 873-1237 or call any elementary school.
Sorority to award
Psi Iota XI, a philanthropic sorority, is accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship from Zionsville high school seniors who will be attending a four-year college or university. The scholarship is open to students pursuing any field, but special consideration may be given to those in the art, music or speech/hearing development areas. Applications will be evaluated on merit and are available at the Zionsville Community High School guidance office. Completed applications are due to that office no later than Friday, April 10.
