Drop Christmas Trees at Starkey Park

Zionsville residents may take their Christmas trees to the Starkey Park parking lot area (off of Sugarbush Drive) from now until Jan. 19, . The trees will be chipped into mulch and given to Zionsville residents. Only trees may be dropped off. No wreaths, roping, tree stands, ornaments, plastic, nails or wire will be accepted. Call the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department at 733-2273 for more information.



Nature Center programs set

The Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech St., will have several classes and events this month. Call the nature center at 873-8950 or visit www.zionnaturecenter.org for more information or to register for classes.

• Penguins — 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 3 and 4. All ages. Learn fun facts and create crafts related to these adorable birds. Free.

• It’s a Snow Day! — 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10 and 11. All ages. Join us for a cup of hot chocolate as we have some fun with snow crafts, stories and games. Free.

• Water Management for Gardeners — 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15. Adults. The program will cover how a gardener can positively affect the quality and quantity of the local water supply. Register on the Nature Center Web site.



SullivanMunce offers programs, exhibits

The SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 225 W. Hawthorne St., will have several events this month. Call the center at 873-4900 or visit www.sullivanmunce.org for more information.

• Beginning Watercolor — 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 5 to March 9. This class allows students to paint their chosen subjects: still life or landscape, for example, and to experiment with new ones. Instructor: John P. Hanks. Cost: $240/$255 (members/non-members). Supplies are additional.

• Acrylic Painting — 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 7 to Feb. 25. Students will learn the basics of acrylics or expand their current knowledge. Experiment with a myriad of techniques that are possible with this versatile paint medium. John P. Hanks instructs. Cost: $270/$295 (members/non-members). Supplies are additional.
