• Paws to Read — 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. A monthly program for children ages 6 to 10 that encourages reading.

• The Music Group Presents — 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, Lora Hussey Room. “Only the Good Die Young” is the theme for this first music appreciation event. These informal, conversational sessions will continue on the first Tuesday of each month.

• Batter Up! — 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8. Author Sue Corbett will discuss her book “Free Baseball” with students in grades 3 to 5. Space is limited.

Snowy Fun — 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, ages 1 and 2. A snow-themed story program, including songs, finger plays and read-alouds.



Sports Award

nominations sought

The Community Foundation of Boone County is seeking nominations for the Lionel Dubay Sports Award.

Letters of nomination should describe the contributions the nominee has made to youth sports. Send them to Community Foundation of Boone County, P.O. Box 92, Zionsville, 46077. Include your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address, if possible. Nominations are due by Jan. 15, 2009. Presentations will be made at the Greater Zionsville Chamber of Commerce dinner Jan. 30, at the Palomino Ball Room, 481 S. County Road 1200 East.



PEACZ plans meeting

PEACZ, the Parent Education and Advisory Council of Zionsville, a not-for-profit organization providing education, training, resources and support to families of children with special needs invites such persons to meet for support and conversation at 1 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 24 and March 18 at the Oak Street Starbucks, across from McDonald’s. Call 607-0884 with questions.



Tri Kappa offers Zionsville town blankets

The local Zeta Sigma Chapter of Tri Kappa is selling tapestry throw blankets, featuring a picturesque Zionsville street scene, as a fundraiser for Zionsville scholarship funds and community activities including library programs. The all-cotton throws, measuring 48 by 60 inches, with fringe, are $40. They may be purchased at the Greater Zionsville Chamber of Commerce, 135 S. Elm St.; bulk purchases may be made at a discount by calling Becky Culp at 873-0930 or Kim Nurkiewicz at 769-5960.
