Community Calendar for Sept. 25, 2013


• Friends of the Library Book and Bake Sale — 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The sale will feature thousands of books for sale and a variety of homemade treats. Proceeds from the sale will help fund special library programs for all ages. Bargain prices will be offered for grocery sacks of books beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday for $10 per bag. Sunday the price will be $5 per bag. Admission is $5 for Friday but free Saturday and Sunday.

• Pokemon Black and White Tournament — 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, teens. Bring Nintendo 3DS and Pokemon Black and White and get ready to battle. Those with cards, not Black and White 2, are welcome to attend for open play, but the card game will not be regulated by officials. Door prizes for all and prizes for Nintendo players will be available.

• Make a Card Sunday — 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, families. Stop by to make a card for a family member or friend. All supplies provided.

• Game On — 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28, teens. Meet in the teen area to play the Wii.

• Read, Build, Play with DUPLOs: Let’s Go Vroom — 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, ages 3 through 6, with a parent. A parent-child interactive story and playtime.

• Pizza-Palooza — 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, grades first through fifth. Celebrate National Pizza Month by learning about the treat and make one to take home and bake.

• United We Read Author Talk: Robin Sloan — 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, adults. Robin Sloan, author of Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, will talk from San Francisco via Skype about his book .

• Intermediate Excel — 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, adults.Free computer class for intermediate students of Microsoft Excel 2010.
