Nominations sought for award

Nominations for the Lionel Dubay Youth Sports Award are due by Jan. 6.

The award will be presented by the Community Foundation of Boone County during the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on Friday, Jan. 24.

The award is to recognize and reward an individual who embodied Lionel Dubay's passion for youth sports in Zionsville.

Any adult who has made an ongoing commitment to youth sports in Zionsville may be nominated.

BCHD offers flu vaccines

The Boone County Health Department, 116 W. Washington St., Lebanon, is offering flu and pneumonia vaccines.

Walk-ins are welcome from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Insurance is accepted, and insurance card must be presented at time of service.

Cost is $25 for a flu vaccine, $35 for a high dose flu vaccine and $70 for a pneumonia vaccine. Nasal flu mist is available for children ages 2 through 18.

The department participates in the Vaccines for Children government program, which provides vaccines for children without insurance coverage or who are Medicaid recipients.

United Way seeks tutors

United Way of Central Indiana is seeking substitute tutors for Harney Elementary School.

Substitute tutors are needed from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on an as-needed basis. The tutors are needed for United Way's ReadUP program, which focuses on early childhood development and elementary education.

During each session, the student reads from a selected book while the tutor assists and asks questions designed to improve comprehension and build confidence.

Adult volleyball leagues forming

Eagle Recreation and Enrichment is sponsoring adult volleyball leagues at Union Elementary School.
