72 years ago:

On Wednesday the Lions Club entertained the County Commissioners, County Auditor, County Attorney and County Engineer at dinner at Arnol’s Cafe. The entire group then visited the bridge and looked over the road entrance south of town. The engineer will estimate the cost and the commissioners will seek approval of the county council and the state tax board for an emergency grant to improve the road.

69 years ago:

Effective July 25, 1944, a member of the armed services on leave or furlough for a period of three days or more will be entitled to one gallon of gasoline for each day of his leave or furlough up to a maximum of 30 gallons.

64 years ago:

Capt. M.B. Richmond of the air corps accompanied the body of Lieutenant Clingler to Zionsville from Columbus, Ohio, and he remained for the final services. The body of Pfc. Elmer J. Sanders was accompanied, also from Columbus by Sgt. Frank Hulman, who was not requested to remain for the service.
