INDIANAPOLIS — A Lebanon pediatrician awaiting trial for alleged sexual crimes had his license suspended for another 90 days by the Indiana Medical Licensing Board on Thursday.
Dr. Jonathon Cavins, 41, of Jamestown, faces six charges in Boone County including two counts of child seduction which were filed last month and original criminal charges of child molesting, sexual gratification and two counts of sexual misconduct.
There are reportedly five victims in the cases; the youths are 12 years of age or older and were his patients.
His license was initially suspended for 90 days in March. Thursday's action was a follow-up to that suspension. Neither Cavins nor his attorneys were present for the licensing board hearing.
Cavins worked as a pediatrician for Witham Health Services. Ray Ingham, WHS president and CEO, said the hospital terminated Cavins' contract as a result of the criminal investigation.
He has a tentative trial date set for July 8.
