Lebanon Fire Department veteran Mark Brown was named Center Township Fire Department assistant chief.

Brown began in his new role with CTFD Jan. 1. He has been with the LFD for 20 years and plans to retire from his city job in the spring, Brown said Wednesday.

He fills a CTFD vacancy left when Brandon Jamison voluntarily stepped down from that role in autumn, Casey Samson, CTFD spokesperson, said.

“Mark has a long history with Center Township Fire Department and will be a great addition to our department in this greater role,” CTFD Chief Mike Spidel said of the lifelong Boone County resident.

Brown was a volunteer with CTFD before being hired as a full-time firefighter with Lebanon in 2000. Since 2008, he has worked as a paid part-time firefighter for CTFD.

“I am thrilled to be starting a new chapter here at Center Township”, Brown said. “Training and operations are at the top of my priorities.”

A swearing in ceremony will be announced in the coming days, Samson said

Firefighters routinely work part-time jobs at departments in other municipalities, Lebanon Fire Chief Chuck Batts said Wednesday.
