Dusang case to be heard in bench trial

Jaice Dusang

Numerous felony charges against a 21-year-old accused of shooting a man in the head in the Quail Run apartment will be considered in a bench trial this fall.

Jaice E. Dusang, Indianapolis, was arrested in December, and initially faced seven felony and one misdemeanor charge in the October attack. Charges include: robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, armed robbery, aggravated battery, two counts of criminal confinement, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and criminal recklessness, all felonies.

His jury trial date of July in Boone County Circuit Court has be vacated in favor of a bench trial at 9 a.m. Nov. 6, in the court, with Judge Lori Schein on the bench.

The charges stem from an Oct. 29 incident at Quail Run. Zionsville Police officers were called to an apartment complex, after resident there suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Law enforcement officials from numerous agencies searched for a suspect throughout that night, but Dusang was not arrested for the incident until several weeks later. The victim survived his injuries.
