The Zionsville tennis team poses with their regional championship trophy.

PLAINFIELD - For the first time since 2009, the Zionsville boys tennis team won the regional championship.

The Eagles topped Brebeuf Jesuit 3-2 to win the regional and advance to Saturday's semi-state against Center Grove.

"There are absolutely no words to express how proud, excited, pumped up I am tonight with our Zionsville Eagles," head coach Earl Allen said in an email. "Our players were back to playing the Eagles style of tennis and there were incredible points played on all five courts. The environment was highly intense but our guys remained focused, poised, and committed to the task at hand."

The two teams had met in the regular season, with the Eagles winning 3-2.

They matched the wins on the No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles courts to secure the win.

At No. 2 singles, Nick Bailey topped Chase Hutchinson 6-3, 6-3.

At No. 1 doubles, Robert Campbell and Ryan Carr topped Danny Battler and Jett Jenkins 6-3, 6-2 and at No. 2 doubles Nick Winters and Ethan Perry topped Matthew McKay and Jack Moore 6-3, 6-4.

The Braves wins came at No. 1 singles, where David Hopper defeated Cole Chappell 6-1, 6-4 and at No. 3 singles, where Max Aaron topped Austin Kuklak in three sets.
