Players from Lebanon and Zionsville were honored this week, when the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) released their Academic All-State, Top Team Player and All-District Teams.

On the boys Academic All-State team, Lebanon’s Kevin Burress, Carson Burtron, Ethan Niehart, Ben Piper and Alex VanZandt were honored.

Joining them on the team were Zionsville’s Alex Backhaus, Alex Carr, Ben Dunning, Roger Foster, Chris Freeman, Cam Greeson, Jackson Iler, Alec McCarty, Nick Pease, Will Varner, Charlie Wagner, Ben Weidner and Griffin Wright.

Making the girls Academic All-State team were Brice Biediger, Sydney Calisto, Madelyn Chadwick, Elizabeth Chlystun, Ella DelVecchio, Makenzie Echeverria, Calen Hammerle, Sylvie Morgan and Sharada Subramaniam.

To make academic all-state, players must be a junior or senior, have a 3.7 accumulative GPA and be on the varsity roster.

Each team in the state is also able to nominate a Top Team Player for 2019. Zionsville’s Alex Carr and Sophie Brown were selected.

The ISCA also announced their all-district teams for 2019.

On the first-team for District 3, Zionsville’s Gavin Raff, Ben Weidner, Chris Freeman and Cam Greeson were honored.

Raff posted 12 shutouts this season for the Eagles, allowing just 10 goals.

He made 41 saves.

Weidner had nine goals and six assists for the Eagles, with Freeman having 11 goals and nine assists. Greeson had seven assists on the year, and anchored the backline that allowed just 14 goals all season long.

Evan Miller (three goals, four assists) and Josh Kuller (eight goals, seven assists) were named to the second team.

Zionsville head coach Rob Jordan was named District 3 Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to a 21-0 record.

On the girls side, Abbey Iler made first-team All-District.

She had eight goals and six assists for the Lady Eagles, while registering a team-best 55 shots.

Lizzie Chlystun was named second-team all-district after posting six goals and five assists.
